Having survived a many wars, cataclysms, ends of the world catastrophes and other disasters, humanity seems to endure everything. But even if mankind was designed to last a new surprise is about to be  presented to us. The ordeal is not going to be any easier, especially when we are determinately destroying ourselves. For the last decade, obesity and diabetes have become the self-induced “plague” of the XXI century and in the competition of the fattest and the most diabetes affected nations, the USA is a definite leader. Fast-food restaurants and cafes have conquered the whole world. Now all they have to do is to celebrate this victory which resulted in disfiguring millions and millions of people. The main victim, however, is America. Every third child born after 2000 has Diabetes because of overweight or obesity, as one thing leads to another.

Not wishing to watch this horrible trend from the sidelines, the Personal Dietology Center Palitra Pitania decided to gather the members of the Palitra Pitania Club under the same roof and discuss not only the cause of this “plague”, but also how to avoid it. As an example how so called “junk food” affects our body with, our guests watched the film “Super Size Me”, a 2004 American documentary film directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock, an American independent filmmaker. Spurlock’s film follows a 30-day period from February 1 to March 2, 2003 during which he only eat at McDonald’s. If offered by a McDonald’s employee, he would choose only “super-size” portions of his meals. As a result, the he gained 12 kg, and his overweight was not yet the worst of all the troubles he was going to face, as he also suffered from mood swings, sexual dysfunction and problems with his liver.

The team of the Personal Dietology Center Palitra Pitania told the guests all they knew about McDonald’s menu and the way Americans order and eat their meals in such places.

Our specialists spoke a lot about Diabetes and especially about the “risk group” along the symptoms showing you that you are about to join it yourself. The problem of Diabetes was definitely the topic of vital importance and our guests eagerly participated it all the discussions related all the horror caused by this disease and the ways to prevent it.

Among the other food related topics, Palitra Pitania couldn’t leave without attention such an event as the approaching Lent. Nowadays there are dozens of myths surrounding it, and our specialists decided to discuss them. The most well-known myth, for example, the one that says that it is the best way to lose weight, was successfully shattered by the arguments and the facts presented to the public by our dietitians.

The atmosphere of the event was warm and friendly. Our guests willingly discussed all the questions we raised. After our event, they all went home determined and ready to protect themselves and their relatives.
